Hanza Media: One Kiosk for an Entire Publishing Portfolio

Hanza Media publishes multiple newspapers and magazines, each with its own readers. The e-kiosk sells every edition from one place - one account, one purchase flow, one system for the whole portfolio.

A publisher with one title needs a way to sell that title digitally. A publisher with a portfolio needs something harder: a single place where a reader can find whichever of your publications they actually subscribe to, buy another one without creating a second account, and read both on the same device without noticing they came from different editorial operations.

That's what Hanza Media's e-kiosk does.

One kiosk, many publications

The e-kiosk brings Hanza Media's newspapers and magazines into one product, available on the web and as a mobile app. A reader signs in once and sees the editions they have access to. Buying an additional publication happens in the same flow, with the same payment details, in the same place.

For the publisher, the equivalent consolidation happens behind the scenes: one system managing digital editions across the portfolio, rather than a separate arrangement per title. Adding a publication is configuration, not a new project.

Editions built for screens, not photographs of paper

The weak version of an e-paper product is a PDF of the printed page, which is unreadable on a phone and only tolerable on a large tablet.

Hanza Media's editions are prepared for readability at the size the reader is actually holding, with the photography and illustration reproduced properly rather than compressed into illegibility. For magazine titles, where the layout and imagery are a substantial part of what the reader is paying for, that distinction matters more than it does for a newspaper.

Selling, not just distributing

The e-kiosk is a sales channel, not only a delivery mechanism. Editions are sold through the app and through the web kiosk, with purchasing handled in the same system - which means digital revenue is measurable per title rather than pooled into a general digital line.

The platform behind it

Hanza Media's e-kiosk and app run on our publisher platform, with e-paper distribution, purchasing and subscriber management handled through mPanel CMS alongside the rest of the operation.

The Hanza Media e-kiosk app is on Google Play, App Store or on the web.
